Mr Jacob's explanation of using the machine wasn't too clear.
Harold Hall described making the CES machine from castings in MEW 58,59,60 but didn't cover the use of the machine. I don't know if he covers using it on his website.
Ivan Law and the late Giles Parkes covered hobbing in issues 56 and 57 of MEW, but again no explanation of the use of the Jacob's machine.
Alan Adlridge's gear cutter is cap-able of hobbing gears but he didn't cover the use of this method, instead focusing on using single tooth cutters with automatic indexing of the blank.
Chris Robinson's articles in MEW 169, 170 and 172 on cutting helical gears may be helpful, his latest article looks at other different gear types.
What we really need is a step by step description of cutting standard gears- I will ask Chris Robinson if he could do this.
