      Yes, I know it’s a ten year old thread, but just in case this helps anyone else I bought some of these and again the ‘F’ does seem to indicate a nicely sharp edge.

          Previous posts would suggest that other **GT inserts were not found to be as sharp by the OP which suggests it is not the GT that makes the difference.

           

          As Vic mentions the F seems to indicate the sharpest edge. Quick look at Ceratizit cataloge and they have 3 main specifications for their inserts Fine, Medium and Roughing. **GT are available in M and F which would suggest a different geometry most likely a sharper edge on the F than the M which is a bit “blunter” but more durable while still being sharper than the **MT inserts which tend to be F or M grade.

            I get my round carbide cup inserts from this site. I made an arbor and use a battery drill and a diamond plate to sharpen.

              There was a link earlier and I took a screenshot of the relevant part. This was confirmed by Ceratizit. Ignore the Red lettering, I added this for my own reference.
