There are other sites such as Thingiverse (among several others) that provide useful repositories of free or reasonably prices STL and other files.

It makes more sense to use these repositories than to try and emulate them on this website, but it’s been suggested we have this thread as a place for members to post links to the files for their workshop and model engineering projects.

I request that discussion is kept to a minimum – ideally discuss the projects in their own threads.

Just use this thread to post a link and a description, also a link to any thread discussing the project if you like.

I haven’t uploaded many of my workshop accessories to Thingiverse – many of them are either too basic or specialised.

This one is a solder fume fan I made a good few years ago, it uses a 4″ computer fan to suck fumes through a double layer of carbon filter from generic cooker hood refill material.

Could you also change the thread title FROM UPPERCASE to a more polite rendition.

If we had a competent magazine editor on hand, they might advise concerning what looks good in print and what hurts the eyes.

As there seems to be plenty of room on the bandwagon and it’s been far too hot to venture into the workshop, I offer the following files for the fitment of an ELS to a mini lathe. I designed the mounts and gears in Alibre Atom 3D and thet were printed on my BambuLab X1C.

They are rather machine specific, that is to say they were designed to utilise the mounting holes on the original AMA714B mini lathe to avoid having to drill into the castings, but might well fit others of the same ilk.  The prints allow the fitting of a rotary encoder to the main spindle and front mounting of a NEMA23 stepper motor to drive the standard leadscrew.  In my case it was coupled electronically to a single-axis ELS device from This (French) supplier.

The 3D print files can be downloaded from Thingiverse.com, here.

They are in STL format only on here but I exclusively work with STEP files at home.

There are a couple of videos on my YouTube channel showing the installation, starting with this one.

Happy to answer any queries and/or supply STEP files if anyone wants to tread the same path.

These are motorcycle related and might have a very limited interest here.

Two similar projects, A pointer and timing disc holder for Velocette Venom/MSS/MAC  and the same for 1960’s on Matchless G3/AJS 16.  They both incorporate a micro adjustable pointer making it easier to read the disc.

And covers for the throttle bodies. These aid servicing as they throttle bodies provide a wide opening to allow fallen screws or other undesirable items fall down into the engine

A working model of a Balzer relieving tool. This was my first ever design (in sketchup) and printed on my Ender 3 printer. Nowadays I use Fusion to draw 3d models.

And here’s a paint stirrer I drew up for mixing 5L tins of paint on a battery drill. Requires a 8mm or 5/16″ knurled rod. I have made two of these (one for me and one for the neighbour) and they work fantastically well.

I was very aware people would be looking for it on the list. It can be decapitalised ina few day’s time.

I just noticed that I forgot the link in my post above for the collet holder. Could you maybe add it to my post? Senior moment!       https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7376090

                          Neil,

This topic is exactly what I wanted to see.  Lots of useful ideas.

Thanks guys for your various ideas.

The Myford gear rack and lead screw cover are two which will be printed asap.

A couple of mine, somewhat niche but who knows might be useful to someone:

Having gotten fed up with cleaning the swarf off the tool bits stored in a plastic container on the lathe bench, I came up with this:
