So a parcel arrives on my doorstep – whoopee. But I havn't ordered anything.

It turns out to be a lump of lathe related iron from Yorkshire but way too big for my lathe unfortunately so no use at all. Sender includes his address but no phone number. I try a search and he exists but the directory gives a bad number.
So I try to contact Yodel but their system seems to delete all tracking reference etc once the parcel is delivered. Their phone system is a robot that only wants to accept people's money so no joy there.

I tried a look at ebay for an active seller near the address and got a possible whom I have mailed to see if they are the one but no reply yet.

I wonder if the sender is on this forum? They will have to realise my ebay and forum names are not my actual name to which they sent the parcel. So like the weather I'm a bit gloomy today.

Also no idea how they got my addresss. I don't seem to have done business with them before.

You have done a lot more than your bit hold on to it for a short time.

Coincidental if haven't ordered anything have had same quite a few times.

Couriers and post services are a law to themselves very few get here without being opened even 13" silver steel round not taped back up free to drop out the box which shows quite well on the scan.

Had no posty for 8 days product needed then, are they gearing up for another strike.

To be honest it looks more like the seller's fault than Yodel's – they have fulfilled their obligations by getting the parcel to the address that's on it and collecting a signature.

Can't you drop the sender a postcard?

To clarify Yodel delivered tothe address they were given and I wasn't at home to query it. The unforgivable bit on their part is to have a website with no phone number and interaction that will only accept people that have an account with them and having a phone number on the delivery card that won't provide a human to talk to and won't accept the delivery numbers.

Also the delivery label manages to have 3 barcodes, 4 reference numbers but again no contact phone or anything useful.

So i am warning users that they or their recipients that they will be in a pickle if anything goes wrong.

Obviously I will revert to snail mail in due course but I shouldn't be having to.

If you are an ebay seller remember to put a copy of the ebay receipt in the box and full and flexible contact details. I have now just received a communication from the owner.

Looks like the yorkshire address inside the package was the intended destination not the sender. So RB will be getting his big lathe bit soon. Wonder what he is making with such a big lathe in a little village.

My wife used yodel to return unfit goods, 24 hrs later her card details were used fraudulently, coincidence or what?

Fortunately the bank picked it up straight away and money refunded back to account (eventually). Goods had been ordered from play.com and amazon, buyers address would be different to ours and could be traced. Goods should only be delivered to card holder address ( I know that can be inconvenient, but would stop this type of fraud).

Also nobody seems to want to follow up this type of crime.
