Are there available for purchase very small DREMEL type collets for small drills – #80 – #60 (0.0135″ – 0.0400″). Currently I use a pin vice and a cordless drill, but you loose the “Feel” of the drill.

I’ve got a 3-jaw for mine that just replaces the collet & nut and will close right down

Have you heard about ‘pcb drills’ that have a standard 1/8″ or 3mm shank holding fine drills. Quick search showed one at 0.01cm or 4 thou.

Being carbide they are brittle, I would not use below about 0.5 mm without using a stand.

The small dremel drill chuck is really good for the small drills. I use the dremel with the flex shaft to drill 0.3mm vent holes for vacuum form tools, has the little drill chuck on it.

As the collet has slots in it to allow it to collapse, there would be a lower limit to the diameter of item it would hold.

That would mean for really small diameters, it would need a collet with non-standard slots (or varying width slots across the collet size range), which is not something economically viable in the market in which Dremel places itself.

A three jaw chuck has naturally-varying gaps between the gripping surfaces.

I think the Dremel chuck may be the answer.

                      Thanks for the replies.
