[obviously?] it's a strip of louvres. … I don't know who sells them, but I'm sure someone will advise.

I think Gerald Wingrove described the making thereof [a nice project if you have a little press available]

Steve – looks similar to flat bookcase support strip, although rather close spacing.

Looks to me like part of a side support rail from a cupboard, or similar, where the shelves can be adjusted in small increments.

As Michael says its a strip of small scale louvres, depending on what it was originally intended for you may find something from the suppliers of detail parts for small gauge locos or AFV models.

With the aid of a press tool they can be made, Maschinen im Modellbau magazine had drawings for one a year or so ago or the ones by Gerald Wingrove that Michael mentions have been shown on the net.

Possibly an etched engine grill from a model kit. I thought it may be for the Tamiya 1/35th 'Famo' but I just checked mine and the vents are different in shape. I think this is also bigger than the Famo grills so possibly 1/24th scale?

Some of the etched parts I've had for models require a ballpoint pen to be run along the back side of the vent to push it into form. The actual vent shape is made at the rear by etching away half the depth of metal, plus a through-etched slit and so a weakened area is left, ready to be pushed.
