My daughter (aged just 44) gets her first jab on Saturday. She is not on any list for special attention – a government or Practice letter just dropped through the letterbox and she booked up for her jab at her earliest convenience. Her partner has not yet been contacted.

I fall into the "over 60 young 'un" group, and my letter arrived last Sat, went on the Ap (told you I was a "young 'un" and booked both appointments easily, had the 1st jab this am, it felt like they used a 3.2mm tapping drill . . But apart from an arm that feels like its been punched by Henry Cooper (maybe I'm not so young after all) I have so far no other side effects, maybe not feeling up to using my lathe at the moment which is bit frustrating 😕

My next jab is lined up for mid May, tbh I thought the whole set up seems well organised and easy to arrange.

Latest date I have here (Ontario Canada) for first shot for me (78 with underlying issues) is that a booking portal will open in mid April.

FWIW, here's Canada's performance compared to other countries. Even allowing for relative population it's pretty dismal

Does anyone follow Dr John Campbell on youtube. He has stacks of data.

After a year of this pandemic I personally have had my fill of data. I respect the NHS, stay away from others & have been vaccinated. cheeky

The rumour is that furlough will be extended until the end of June – Hopefully then, the war will be over by Christmas!

I am dreading the lifting of the lock-down. It's going to mean meeting other people again and having to try to appear sociable and affable. Dammit!

Wow. You guys are even slower than here in Australia. They just started the first vaccinations of frontline medical staff and old folks homes residents last week and managed to achieve just half the planned 30,000 vaccinations for the week. Talking about end of October to vaccinate the whole 25 million population (minus the refuseniks and and under 18s who don't get it apparently.)

And our authorities have contracted to use the western world's least effective vaccine, AstraZeneca with efficacy of about 70 per cent so our international borders may well remain closed long after October to protect that 30 per cent for whom the vaccine does not fully work.

Plenty of time in the workshop coming up for the next year I would say.

We are slow, but we currently have no cases in the community, so it is not so urgent. I wish we were getting the Pfizer vaccine though.

There have been some exceptions in the UK – My ex-wife and her current partner were phoned up by the GP practice on a Sunday at the end of January. They are both in their 50s and while they both have underlying health conditions these are below the shielding level. The reason for their callup? A sudden snowfall and people who were down to be vaccinated cancelled because they couldn't travel to the vaccination hub and there was vaccine that was going to be wasted if not used.

I was myself vaccinated at the start of February although I am not yet 70 but workers essential for supporting the socially vulnerable were put forward by the local authority.

So it was not strictly by age, but perhaps will be from now on.

Looking at Peter Greene's graph I must be particularly dense this morning, it is peaking around the 6000 mark, I don't know what the UK figure were on the first day or so of roll out but for some time now we have been in the hundreds of thousands per day, over half a million at times, someone put me out of my misery please and explain where I am going wrong in my interpretation, surprised no one else has not commented which makes me think it is me.

Yes, now you point it out, at around 6000 jabs per day, it would take over 3300 days (9 years) to administer the 20,000,000 the government says it has already given.

There must be a simple explanation to it. rainbow

I have always expected the "First Dose Rate" to taper off. There are bound to be many people who have had their first dose, but are now requiring their second dose. The facilities for administering the doses have not been expanded so the current facilities must be catering for both, hence the reduction in "First Doses".

                                  Regards

                                  Gray,

I think the vertical scale (ordinate) should be in hundreds of thousands i.e. the UK peaked at about 600,000 per day. I'm guessing that the dip in the UK and US was a supply issue.

That would be logical explanation although I would expect the conventional way for the Y axis would be hundreds x 1000.
