I finished my bump valve uniflow engine and gave it a first run. It needs 50 psi to start and during a run it seems to find a resonance spot and speeds up alarmingly. It has reinforced my faith in Loctite as the crankshaft and 3 piece conrod are assembled just using 638. I didn’t realise these engines run at such high speed otherwise I would have given more thought to balance, as it is it needs clamping to my hefty surface plate to stop it taking off.
