Good quality flooring for indoor workshop

Hello all,

I am in the process of designing a small indoor workshop with a micro lathe and small bench with vice.

Could someone recommend a good quality rubber or vibration friendly floor that I can put down, and where to get it? The room is carpeted, however this can be removed and/or the flooring be installed over the top.

maybe professional kitchen suppliers – I used Nisbets in past for such equipment (knives, pans, icecream makers etc) and found then fine with good quality products eg http://www.nisbets.co.uk/Coba-Kitchen-Mat-850-x-750mm/F293/ProductDetail.raction
is one of their grease, oil proof kitchen mats tho I’ve not used this myself

I doubt that carpeting is suitable for any metal bashing workshop – my own small workshop is my cellar using wooden suspended flooring over concrete base – for many years purely woodwork for which some carpet offcuts could be used for mats but need frequent vacuuming to remove dust etc but having now, post death of a friend who did any metal work for me, I find that even drilling metal spreads swarf far and wide and carpets act as magnets for it – lino + rubber mats would I think be better
