Wanted help with machining small ali components

Hi,

This is my first post on here. Just to explain where I'm coming from, I make and fly model aeroplanes in competitions at home and abroad. I'm pretty competitive, but short of the top! I've had some ideas recently on how to become a winner, but it needs machining of some small bespoke aluminium components, so I thought someone on here might be able to help. It's not my area of expertise and I'm too busy to get seriously into the world of machining, basically I'd like to give someone the instructions, they make up the pieces and we discuss the reward. Hopefully someone can help, thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. As a first timer, sorry I don't know how this normally works, I was just posting and hoping! So I live in the Brighton area. And what I want isn't a brand new component but rather machining of blanks to shape, I'll explain more.

On my aeroplane, inside the propeller hub is a cam shape which runs around a circular ali piece at a diameter of about 20mm (I can give exact measurements if it helps). The supplier of these hubs sells them with a standard cam which is basically a falling wedge shape running around the circumference. However, the supplier sells blanks where you can cut your own cam shape, which I would like to do. But short of using a file, a micrometer and tedious hours, I have no way of doing this accurately and smoothly. So I'm looking for someone to help with machining the cams to desired profile.

I will probably look to have several shapes made up, so I can try different ones and see the effect on the aeroplane. How's that?

As a model flyer myself I would like to help. But, cam shapes? It sounds like you need help from somebody with a CNC machine, something that not many amateurs have access to. Have you contacted any of your local machine shops? Sorry I can't be much help but I think what you are looking for is very specialist matching work, cams are not an everyday thing.

I have been contacted privately by a modeller with not one but two CNC machines, so I might be in business!!
