I would far rather an icon that would produce a tech drawing of the part. The work around to the Tech drawing is not simple.

There is a macro available in the Addon Manager called GenerateDrawing which automates that.  I’ve not tried it myself but might be worth a look.

Hi Russell,  I am a complete novice with FreeCAD, done a few simple designs etc for 3D printing.  Installed GenerateDrawing (search for add-on DRAWING).  but didn’t find anything intuitive to make a drawing from an existing part design.

Hi Bob,

I have had a quick look.  It is a macro so after installing it you can access it from the Macro entry in the menu.  However I have tried to execute it but it fails looking for a drawing template file.  I suggest you try contacting the author Milos Petrasinovic <[email protected]> for instructions.  Just hope he speaks English (or French).
