FreeCAD v. 1.1 has now been officially released.  See here for a list of new and revised features:

      https://wiki.freecad.org/Release_notes_1.1

The list of bug fixes is even longer.  I have not had a chance to try it yet but it will keep me busy exploring the new features.  The new version can be downloaded here; https://www.freecad.org/downloads.php?lang=en

I’ve been trying the latest version for a week or so now and am very impressed with the improvement.  The biggest improvement is to the UI (user interface).  It is much more intuitive and has more of a feel of Fusion or Solidworks to it.  It has fixed the bug with tapered radial spokes that has been discussed here and the only other I’ve come across is in the Gears workbench which truncates cycloid gear teeth.  However that is an independently produced addon and not really part of the main program.

For me the biggest advantage of FreeCAD is the there are releases for Windows, MAC, and Linux so I can run it on my Linux machine without relying on the cloud for Onshape.

I too have been impressed by the improvements.

It is interesting that you say the tapered spoke bug has been fixed. The test file that I submitted still fails but I have also found that sometimes wheels come out fine. After further research I have found a work around.

The spokes that make up the polar patterns are pads. If you move the attachment offset of the sketch on which the pad is based away from the axis (1mm is enough) it all works fine.

That’s odd, Roger.  I didn’t offset the sketch from the axis, but I just did a simple test of a circular array of a tapered pad of a circle more than four times and it didn’t break as it had before.

                Something seems to have improved.

If you are interested you can download the file I submitted here

                https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/issues/27252

I also submitted another file which also still fails.

They are both artificial models just to demonstrate the bug.

If it is relevant I am running the Appimage on a Raspberry Pi 5.
