Hi I'm looking for recommendations for a automatic powered metal saw not too big and that will run off house hold supply.

None are fully automatic in our normal price range. Only suppliers and commercial users would have those.

Bandsaw (vertical, horizontal or both?), hacksaw, disc cutter?

You may need a VFD if you go for three phase and only have a single phase supply.

As you will see from the thread Paul linked to, I wasn't so keen to pay out too much dosh – but I was tempted by the Aldi Bandsaw – which for the occasional use I'm going to need, seemed a much more economical purchase. I've not used it a lot thus far, a few test cuts (as I already have a powered hacksaw) but it seems to be OK for what I need and will be even better when I've built the vertical stand I really intend it for…

There are a few YouTube reviews about the saw – such as this one:

                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npLZIkue1n0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npLZIkue1n0

As with much of Lidl/Aldi hardware products, you may have to wait for it to be available (online) again – but for anyone wanting a small metal bandsaw at a reasonable price – I think it would be worth the wait. Mine was £149.99 (inc shipping) but I suspect the price may creep up a bit by the time they next come up….

My cheapy cheapy Chiina made bandsaw is automatic in the sense that I can leave it to get on with the job while I do something else, knowing that it will turn itself off when the cut is complete.

Cant get more automatic than that, and it did not cost a bomb.
