I noticed this the other day stuck in my tyre driven about 50 miles on it…still held air over the bank holiday weekend

what was revealed when the fitter removed the tyre ?

Looks like a Smith and Wesson .44 round. Is Clint Eastwood filming anywhere nearby?

Dunno what that is, but I had a bizzare puncture the other day that cost me a new tyre. It had 4" nail through it.

Now that may not sound all that strange, until I tell you the head was inside the tyre with the pointy bit on the outside. work that one out ?

Cap screw or torx screw .

I once had a 6mm hex driver punch a hole a tyre – it was the long type you use in a drill/driver , the front tyre must have flicked it up when it ran over it and it landed at just tue right angle for it to puncture the back tyre . The other one was when i got a new car i took the entry to my drive a fraction wider than usual and as my water meter is buried in a cut out in the concrete driveway i ran over it and the shaft for the shut off valve went straight through a brand new tyre – i have now fabricated a cover for the meter !

It's the tip of Clint Eastwood's finger which got sheared off when you drove into him in his wheelchair.

Ah, 'hippy crack', N2O – you have no doubt parked in a quiet corner of a public car park, where the sniffers gather.

I suspect some smart Alec deliberately wedged it under your tyre at an angle, so it did what it did and penetrated the tyre.

                                          Plenty down here too!

My guess it was wedged deliberately – their shape means it is unlikely one will flip up if driven over.

Did you park in a multi storey car park prior to discovering it?

Pointy end just right for wedging in the tread gap, my guess deliberate.

Seriously, the gutters are littered with these cartridges around the Cardiff/Newport area. I see them lying there as I cycle in to work.

I am amazed at how many nails and screws litter our highways; when I was young screws and nails were relatively expensive and money was tight, you didn’t scatter them around like nowadays. People obviously have too much money if they can afford to waste materials as they do, nothing more annoying than getting a puncture that wrecks your tyre. I collected my car after a bodywork repair, not my fault guv, and when I got home realised that one tyre had a puncture, when the offending item was removed by a tyre fitter it turned out to be a bodywork fastening which had obviously got into the tyre at the repairers, so annoying , cost a new tyre not recoverable with vulcanised repair.

When I was very young a mate at primary school had an imported GI Joe toy and together we made an aqualung set for it using the identical cylinders, but that had held CO2 for a soda syphon.

Got an Action Man as soon as they were launched in this country (UK) but my mate reckoned his imported GI Joe was cooler.
