      In this article there is a photo (2) of a unknown item seen at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington. A transparent(ish) cylinder with square yellow base on a steel frame. The author wonders if it is a radar or radio item.
      It’s not. But it does emit electromagnetic radiation. Just much lower wavelength. It’s an airfield identification light beacon. The faint angled lines visible in the cylinder are neon tubes. It would flash the airfield’s identification code in morse. These were called Pundit beacons. The Pundit code for Elvington was EV.
