Help please identifying a large vertical slide

Another item from the lockdown sortout! No makers name; it's about 12" high and vastly more substantial than a Myford one. It doesn't look like the Boxford one, could it be Harrison?

Having an engraved scale points to higher quality but what larger quality machine would want a vertical slide when they would also have a milling machine. I think you might look at surface grinder and tool grinder accessories.

Harrison did a slotted table for the L5, so could be to compliment that. Colour looks about right.

+1 for Harrison.

Dial style is right for L series and V groove is pretty much diagnostic. I'm not aware of any other makes done that way.

There was one in the kit for the Harrison we had in the local section workshop at RARDE which 46 year old memory says looked like that. But I never used it or got familiar with it. Just a lump at the back of the cupboard.

Many thanks for the responses. I bought it with the Colchester Student in mind, but I no longer have that so I'll try and find out what it's worth. No point in it sitting around and rusting.

In defence of Myford double-swivel vertical slide I'd point out mine is secured in each plane by 2 M8 studs and bolts where yours has one. I've used mine a lot over 20 years, and within the limits of its capacity it's hard to fault its rigidity.
