Anyone recognise this tool? It says on the back “Black & Decker 1 3/4″ 30degree Use by Hand”. Central hole is 1/2″. No part number.
The 7 inserted teeth are serrated on the leading edge.

My initial guess is some sort of chamfer / deburr tool for plastic drain pipe.

Google image search sort of pointed to a video in German but it didn’t actually include an image of the device – google fail.

Tidy that picture up a bit, and you might get better results … as did I

Yes, I have one myself, though I’ve never used it.
B&D also made valve grinding machines too.

Thanks, that explains the video link I mentioned that was about boring seats just not using the cutter. Maybe it flashed up a picture of the cutter that was just enough for the machines to latch onto. That in itself is interesting.

Yes, interesting … because there is a notion in psychology about the ‘cognitive reference frame’ and you have basically demonstrated that the machines work in roughly the same manner.

MG is that related to subliminal advertising that got banned a few decades ago? It might be interesting for a youtuber to insert an unique image briefly of something like a pattern or painting that cannot have had other internet exposure. Then see if google finds it.

Yes, somewhat related, because it’s what drives that sort of subliminal effect.

The cognitive reference frame is built-up by lived experiences, and is the ‘template’ by which you can tell-at-glance what something is [or at least is likely to be]

Playing games with it is the source of some excellent optical illusions.
