If you are in need of a wavy washer that is compressible, Caleb Components may have what you need. These are listed as wave spring washers. No connection other than a very satisfied customer. One thing to note – the part numbers are nominal so order slightly oversize if the washer is to fit on a shaft.

No link but type Caleb Components into a search engine and you should find the website.

There is another type of washer that matches your description, commonly called a 'crinkle washer'. Its proportions are close to a standard flat washer of the same nominal size.

Searching on 'wave spring washer' brings up items with a very thin section (i.e. the ID and OD are much closer to each other than a standard flat washer). This type of washer is what you would normally see against the end of a bearing on a powertool or if you remove the end bell off a motor, hence it is quite likely that they are sized by OD. This would also explain the thin section – so it only presses against the outer race of the bearing and not onto the rubber seal.

I used wavy washers to provide the friction drag inside some resettable cross slide and top slide dials i made for my Myford. Gor them from my local bearing shop . They work well due to the much lighter spring action than Belleville washers. I think they were sold by OD as they match the OD of electric motor bearings and are just wide enough to bear only on the outer race.

I found that compressing them to half their free thickness provides the ideal feel for a dial. Firmly located but easy to move.
