JasonB is correct, I can give an update on Andrew’s behalf with permission. Work has been continuing on the engines but much slower than anticipated. His mum had a bad fall a year ago which has precipitated a move into a sheltered flat and the ongoing sale of the family home. Since Andrew is the closest of the siblings much of the day to day work clearing the house and getting it ready for sale and helping mum has fallen to him, while his brother looks after finances and other matters.
Here are some pictures taken during a recent visit. The engines and yours truly:

The engines on their own:

The front end of one engine is complete:

The valve gear is complete, as are the steam/exhaust ports and the slide valves, all to his own design:

Reach rods complete:

The reversing levers are also nearly complete. Note the tapered slots, which are not radial to the quadrants but offset. As per fullside there is a small clearance at the bottom of the tongue. A side project is to make some small brass plates which go on the quadrant and indicate ‘Working Position’, which will be taken as 50% cutoff.

I understand that the plan this winter is to dismantle and paint the front end of the second engine. And also to strip the remainder of the first engine and do all the small finishing jobs, paint everything and do a final assembly.
