No, I don't want to paint them, I just want to remove this sticky mess. If I can do that successfully I'll live with it, but in future I'll try and avoid anything coated this way. Unfortunately it seems whatever the price of the item, this coating will fail at some point.

      .

I have a Hudl tablet [purchased for DRO use] which got badly marked by one of Tesco's finest cases.

… I tried several cleaners and solvents to no avail … Then Acetone

The soft-touch coating just wiped-away; leaving the shiny plastic unaffected.

      your experience may differ !!

Or you could invest £7.99 in a can of rubberised spray paint from Halfords?

            http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=764729&categoryId=165495&langId=-1 Neil

Had a can some years back give me and thought it went on ok but came off ok as well.

Update to my original post as I've only just got around to tackling the problem.

I bought a litre of Isopropyl Alcohol (pure) off ebay and it worked a treat. Thanks to all those who recommended this.
