Hi all, just bought the entire tool component of quite a large shed clearance and am slowly going through all the stuff getting rid of scrap and sorting out the wheat from the chaff. Quite a nice Myford ML10 and tooling, reasonable Tool and cutter grinder and lots of odds and sods incvuding his funny little item that was in with the tool grinder but I have no idea what it is.

The motor runs very slowly with very little power behind it, easily stopped with a finger. It would appear to connect to the little piston assembly but even when cleaned and oiled it will not have enough ooomph to run. The whell apppears alittle like a diamond wheel but really smooth so perhaps not…

Any thoughts welcome.

That's an air pump as used in laboratories.

The piston should be coupled onto the crank pin, and the output is the small pipe on the left in the bottom photo

depending on the type it may need the piston oiling at times..

The disk part is the drive rotor and I think it works a bit like an electricity meter.

I have seen them used as fish tank air pumps,

Nearly forgot, they also come in twin piston versions.

Look at what they go for on ebay before you scrap it! "Medcalf pump" should bring some up…

I use to know a girl called Ivy Watts when I was at college. She use to very heated! She had a friend call Civil.

P.S. Think it's a Rossini motor – an eddy current motor used for an air pump either laboratory or aquarium use.

Yikes with only two screws on the case it looks like it might be an 'extremely rare black junior aquarium pump'.

Life on EBay is so full of surprises for my wife and I. Last week she came home from a boot sale with a rusty metal screwdriver that took her fancy for 20p because she could just see a name on it, when cleaned up it had a flag logo with the word PENNANT inside.

Turned out to be a screwdriver from the tool kit of a Vincent Black Shadow Motorcycle and made £165! Took 12 'phone calls about it and god knows how many emails.

Has turned out to be a nice little business as my film career comes to an end.
