Boiler hydraulic test

Hi Guys i have Finished brazing my 5" Tich boiler i am doing my first hydraulic test to see if it leaks i know it runs at 80 PSI and times 2 = 120 PSI test but how long has the test got to be in hours / days

also i know i have proper test with wa qualified inspector

Hi Kevin

First revisit your sums and/or typing skills.

80 psi times 2 = 160.

Other than that I regret I have no useful information to offer.

I would suggest taking to 50psi, rest for 10 mins, if no pressure drop then up to 80, rest for 5 mins, if no pressure drop then increase in 30psi increments check for drops until you reach max pressure.

Don't go over 160 !

You should really try 15psi of air first just in case there's a seam not done.

I made a fitting to fit to a bike pump to put a LOW pressure of air in. If you can't get it to hold low pressure air don't waste your time with hydraulic. If it holds low pressure don't be tempted to go for high pressure air, go for the hydraulic
