This was my toughest challenge to date. Suzanne from EKP and formally Kennions.  Only been model engineering for a few years and getting to grips with lots of new skills necessary. I have an SC4 lathe and VM 25 mill and have learned mostly from YouTubers like Blondie Hacks, Joe Pie, Ades Workshop and a host of other experts. Lots of wasted views watching misleading stuff as well though. I’ve enjoyed the journey so far and delighted with all the expert help volunteered on this forum. I’ll be going to the Midland show again this year for my annual shop up. Living on Exmoor there are no model engineering clubs to get together with others but I have a mate who is enthusiastic to learn machining. We have a really sociable time in the workshop and he’s almost completed a small PM Research engine. Although I am pretty new myself, I have been able to guide him successfully so far.  Keeps me on my toes and making sure my advice is properly correct. Currently starting Kennions Rachel wall engine from EKP. Lots of challenges in this build to come. Hope you all keep the enthusiasm going. Be safe. Steve

Very nice I did toy with the idea of asking the wife for the kit for Christmas.

The only thing I did notice is the top frames look like they are facing the wrong way, this does not distract from a good model, so please do not take it the wrong way.

The original “Dora” By Willey Schneeberger had the crosshead guide frames with the feet and thicker area around the slots facing inwards so Steve’s is correct to that.

I was going on the one on the EKP/Kennions site and was not aware of the “Dora” one. I was not even aware of the “Dora” model.

Thanks all for the encouragement. Can I give a shout out to all at EKP who are always helpful. I spoke to them a couple of years ago at the show and asked if they could look into supplying the various brass plates as I felt they were quite difficult to produce for me and probably many others. I had bought the casting already. They did so and had them laser cut and were really nicely produced. A slight problem with the position of the slots for the long guide rods but I was able to machine them wider to accommodate. They also looked into supplying all the materials as well. This was a separate purchase but I felt it a worth while investment. They obviously went to a lot of trouble to put it all together. And again they were grateful for any updates on any corrections I found during the build.

For anyone thinking of taking on a Suzanne can I suggest that studying the drawings is crucial as I found some mistakes on measurements and positioning. Particularly the bronze angle brackets that secure the frame sides from behind. I spent a lot of time machining and drilling them as well as their positions on the four narrower side frames only to realise they were positioned wrongly on the drawing. I did a lot of referencing from the picture on their web site which varied here and there from actual drawings. EKP were again very helpful and happy to amend some of the details some of which they already supplied with a separate page.
