      Please could someone explain, or give a reference to understanding, insert part numbers. I am sure there is rhythm and reason in system, probably an ISO one, but I am about to order some specialist inserts and feel that I could drop down a rabbit hole.

          ISO may not be specialist, there’s lots of proprietary codes for odd  inserts. Also there are codes that relate to material designed for, toughness etc.

          APT  will sell you a single insert if you are buying the tool holder as well
