I have bought small job lots of used solid carbide endmills on ebay and have been pleased with the sharpness. They probably are swapped out from CNC mills after a fixed time as a precaution rather than waiting for failure. I have also bought resharpened solid carbide endmills which may not be the original diameter and may have rads put on at the ends, neither of which shortcomings worry me at all, and they are recoated and sharp at good prices.

Not being able to sharpen any type of endmills, the HSS ones are kept for aluminium and bronze, not steel.

          Thankyou for explaining it.

The Kennet is simple but that’s its problem – a bit too simple! You have to take the tool-holder block off to index it.

I’ve always been a wary of using an ER collet on a grinder. How do you avoid grit penetrating it and the collet chuck?
