I must admit I'm relieved to know the yellow box is accidental. I was worried that Chris was the sort of person who writes to their MP in green pen…

I think they are HTML format commands: strong=bold, span = justify (I think).

          Neil

          How very dare you.

I am going to write to MHS and complain about this insult (In green of course) smiley

PS re the Yellow, I notice when I reply to a post in the bottom left of the box is written body and the letter P and of course no Yellow, a clue maybe ?

Last night I was also getting a bit miffed with the banners. At the time, I had BearSoft as the search engine on IE 8 running under XP on a notebook computer. Tonight I got rid of the BearSoft search engine and the banners aren't a problem. Does this help ??

              Just a quick question.
When I am typing in this box at the bottom left is body – div and sometimes span or even strong.
Who knows what they mean ?

              These guys do

When typing a post … For starters, just try clicking each of the three text formatting icons [above], and see what appears in the grey bar [at bottom]

                Hi cris,

                In IE, try

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Browsing/Automatically recover from page layout errors with compatibility mode Ouch!

You can also add model-engineer.co.uk to the list under

                Tools/ompatibility view settings/

Or for a test, set compatibility mode from Tools/ompatibility View:

                Hope that helps.

Thanks but if I can I'd rather not run a microsoft product on my mac if I can avoid it.

I find they are so intrusive. I wonder if the next update to this software version might fix the problem as it's very annoying. I am trying to find some clues on the interweb.

I may go into the applestore tomorrow to see if I can get some help

                Chris

                Chris.

It must be something that you're doing (or fault with your Mac), to make the yellow background show up because a) it's obviously not happening for anyone else and b) it's not happening everytime you make a post, so it would seem probable that you're doing something different on occasions, like cutting and pasting from a Mac application, or something like that.

Running Windows 8 here with Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and no problems.

                Martin.

                  a) That's true, I expect it is my end.

                  b) It does happen every time I post, unless I am replying.

                  Thanks though.

To reply to the editior's question of 16th November, this post still obscured, and quite a few others.

The position of the right side banner seems to vary.

                    Thanks

                      Hi Nick,

I have no problem at all with the side bars overlapping the text. I just run Xp (SP3) with Firefox 17 Beta, and Chrome – i.e. nothing special. I have no problerm on my Macbook either, on that I run Snow Leopard (OS) with Firefox, Safari and Google.

                      Best Regards

                      Terry
