Jaxon Steam Car ride to the next beergarden

On a very windy day, I decided in the late afternoon to pop down to the beer garden. This spontaneous decision later meant that the camera battery ran out because it wasn’t fully charged. The steam car ran like clockwork and the improved gas burner control maintained the boiler pressure much better. When I arrived at the beer garden, I was immediately surrounded by curious onlookers. A very interesting technical discussion ensued – the sort you don’t often have. We lost track of time a little, and it got dark sooner than expected. In total, we covered 8 kilometres. On the gentle inclines, we were able to maintain a steady 6 km/h. On the steepest inclines, we made our way up at 2.5 km/h. A more than successful Sunday outing.

Splendid, I have seen the Jaxon book in Maschinen im Modellbau but didn’t realise quite the size of it.

Hello Roger,

the Jaxon is not a small car, its weight is full dressed about 120 Kg and  with me 225Kg. With 1 Kg Propane I can drive between 6,5 and 7 Km far. The farest travel on a day was 14 km with 2 bottles of propane and about 25 liters of rainwater for steaming. A good addon is a not visible electric drive for a comfort home drive, if there is to less water or gas available.

I drove, since the first ride in august 2023, 586 Km till now. Since the first ride I made many improvements and the car was changed to a switchable compound drive for more speed and mileage.

There is now only room for refinements like a bigger oil reservoir for the cylinder oil pump. what I like to have is a display how many burners are active during driving. AT the moment I can only estimate it by the boiler pressure gauge.
