Afternoon folks, I’m trying to replace 8 off M3 fine thread 5mm long brass grub screws (1.5mm hex key), as the hex female part has been damaged.

Brass or stainless steel would be ok.

I can only find one source, accu.co.uk who can supply stainless steel button head 6mm long screws which would suffice, costing £21 plus £5 postage.

Anyone know of any other source of supply to UK buyer?

Alternatively, if I could buy M3 fine threaded rod then I could cut to length and cut a screwdriver slot.

Or I could buy a die and make my own threaded rod.

Try searching for MF3 or MF3 x 0.35. Seems to bring up a bit more.

Amazon will do you a die for£9 (ish) https://www.amazon.co.uk/KS-Tools-332-1000-M3x0-35mm/dp/B001NYQVQO but the reviews are bit scattered.

I have used a UK company called Model Fixings for metric fasteners and they seem to have what you need in stainless steel.

They are a good supplier but do have a minimum order value.

The rod would be a rarer item than the grub screws themselves.

You might be able to buy something/anything threaded with that thread and cut it down. That widens the field a little bit as machine screws, bolts, set screws could all provide the threaded section.
