      Hello

I`m not a model engineer and know absolutely nothing about this world, but am assisting my father-in-law to clear out his garage. Have several boxes of back-issues of Model Engineer from between 1955 to 1963 – some years complete, some years have one or two missing, some years only a few copies. Is there a market for this? Is it worth listing them on Ebay eg 1955, 1956, etc, as I don`t have the time to list each one individually.

Would be interested in any guidance!

      thanks

I would put them on e-bay by volume, expect them to sell for £6-10 a set and about £5 P&P, well thats around what I usually pay.

You could also list the lot here in teh classifieds.

The problem with back issues of ME for many buyers is the large number of multi-part (to be continued) articles of long duration (some of which are continued sporadically at that). That makes short runs – even whole volumes – somewhat unattractive except as in-fills to someone’s collection. And even then, they are probably looking more for individual issues than whole volumes.

Some people are inclined to buy a whole volume if they know it contains all parts of an article of interest but with the overlap at the beginning and end of the volume it’s a bit hit and miss.

You’d probably make the most money selling them as individual issues if they all sell in a reasonable period (a big if) since people are willing to pay over the odds for an issue they particularly want. Some what less I would think selling them as volume sets. Probably less still selling as a complete lot – but that would probably be the easiest sell.
