      Hi

I'm partway through my build of a 1.5" Allchin and I'm thinking of firing it by gas

Has anyone tried this before or can point me to any advice

      Thanks

      Dougie

Interesting proposition. For gas firing, a boiler requires more heat transfer surface area than for coal equivalent as the radiant energy of a gas flame is lower. If you've built to the Hughes' boiler design, you might find that the steaming of the boiler is below par.

I wonder if filling the firebox with ceramic "coal" might help. Just a thought, I've no experience of that.

            That helps a lot
