Hi I am looking for a little help please, I have a Clarke CL500M and I know its a "toy" compared to the real machines out there I can only dream of owning but as I only use it to make small hobby Nixie clock parts it works for me.

I have decided to make myself a nixie watch which needs a large watch face (70mm)and if that wasn't hard enough I have decided to make it out of titanium, this could go horribly wrong but hey you only live once.

My real problem is that my CM500M only has a 3 jaw chuck that opens to about 60mm so I need more,

I have seen these Model Engineering and engineering tools online from RDG Tools Ltd Home Page (Engineering Tools) Tel 01422 885069 /884605
but after emailing them they said they are for their own chucks and may not fit mine.

Can any one help me find a set of 5" outside jaws for the CL500M in the UK

OR does anyone have another inexpensive way to work the problem.

The titanium bar is 70mm dia x 40mm but I only need it to be about 20mm long the other 20mm is sacrificial for the lathe to hold

      Many thanks

I Have now, they said they have some outside jaws for £77.72 but he could not tell me what size they were or any other information, a lot of money to spend on something that may be the right one

            Thanks for the suggestions

Don't apologise; the lathe can produce good work. The three jaw should have an external jaw set, which can be seen in the MM catalogue. These will hold 100mm with all of the jaws within the chuck circumference, so plenty of capacity for you ( and much more if the jaws protrude)

I have to admit I bought the late second hand and it came with some other items though I have not checked, there may well be some but I doubt it I'm sure I would have noticed/remembered

That's £77 saved in 9 hours, come up with enough queries like that and you could almost make a living out of the forum
