would any one have a drawing for a 3 step ml7 vee pulley , I have a new spindle but cant get a new pulley ,mine is really badly worn.

What is worn, the bore of the pulley of the belt grooves?

If the bore is worn, Catch 22 rears its head.

With another lathe it ought to be possible to make and fit a bush to return the pulley bore to original size..

Can Myford (Now owned by RDG ) provide a replacement pulley? Or maybe the price is astronomical?

It may be possible to obtain a pre owned pulley from somewhere that has stripped a lathe for spares.

I think I bought the last ML7 headstock spindle pulley Myford had in stock last year! Is a nice cast iron one too.The old Mazak one had the V grooves worn out. There are a few reasonable looking used ones on eBay UK though. I looked at turning up my own new one from aluminium but the OD is an oddball 4-1/8" and would have cost me almost as much as the new pulley to buy a piece of 5" material and get it shipped in today's crazy world.

If your problem is however the bushing in the middle loose, that can be fixed with Loctite 638 and a grub screw.

No drawings, but if you have the old one, you can work off of that. The V grooves are standard A section V belt, which details are online as standard profiles. EG here: LINK

The wear is on the higher speed vee of the headstock pulley .. I was hoping to make a new pulley as new ones are not available . the ally in no problem, its just dimentions I need .

Consult yor manual? Likely it provides speeds with different sheaves. The ratio of pulley sizes, between driving and driven, will likely be a relatively simple one

If no one else beats me to it I will try and measure one for you in the next few days. As A section that size is known so it's only the Diameter you need ? Noel.

You have the original pulley and only one of the three speeds is worn. So use either of the lower speed sections to give you the shape and dimensions of the "V" that you need . You should still have the dimension/diameter of the root of the "V" on the faster worn one and work from there. Bear in mind that the root is not critical insofar as the smaller the root is, the faster your machine will run.

Ideally the belt should run just at the top of the "V" and go nowhere near the bottom flat. So you could get the top dimension from the belt and work from there having seen how the belt looks on the to slower speeds. Might be a good idea to renew the belt first but you should be able to get there on your own
