Fascinating, I have never heard of that. I will do a bit of googling.

@JasonB Great job on the V-Twin Kelsey.

I seem to be behind and only have imperial mills reamers etc, so the good lady brought a set of metric milling cutters, reamers and two micrometers for Christmas so now can follow metric plans without having to convert

It’s the way to go😉 Hope you have collets to hold them with.

Progressing well and looks like I won’t be needing any quick drying paint.

I’m not sure if it is the workshop or the worker that is efficient but happy with the way it is going.

I already have a full set of ER32 collets so ready to go (well I think LOL)

The paint is drying, so I think I will make my deadline.

Earlier in the thread Iwas asked how long Kelsey took. Well I have recorded the time spent on this wobbler so start placing your bets on how long it took.

To help you get a closer guess I did not do 20 trial holes before deciding on which reaming drills to use. I did not use a micrmeter so no time was wasted trying to decide if the paperwork was legit and I did not deviate into a six month project making any tooling to make the tool to make the model. Almost all Carbide turning and milling tools and obviously handicapped by having to use far eastern machines and equipment. 😂

If you could supply some loose indication of the ‘printing’ cost, it’d be useful info…?

I’ll go into that when I do the separate build thread and some of the remaining 5 prints could be made available for a reasonable sum.

                    All done and dusted.

As the sun is out I’m going in the garden so the photos and video will get uploaded a bit later. All I can say is that “Willy” is a fast little wobbler!

As promised here is the finished engine. There was a little bit of tightness which I have since found so hopefully I can get a slower tick over but I’m more than happy with the speed the Tacho shows and had to stick it to a 20-40-80 block to stop it levitating.

Build thread to follow in the new year and the guess how long it took to make competition is still open for entries.

                        8 hours 20 minutes?

Lovely little motor!  I’m wondering whether it might be possible to 3D print the stanchion in plastic and use bushes for the crankshaft and cylinder retaining bolt then gluing/screwing a metal plate to the valve face.

Lovely little motor Jason, I would guess at 7hours 30 minutes, You have made history too by being the first one on here to use printed metal items.

                              Keith.

                                Nicely done Jason.

Do the printed castings machine nicely?

As to build time, a lot quicker than I would take!! Let’s say three half days, so 12 hours inc. painting.

                                Mark.

Haha – just watched the video 😂- sounds great; did you clock the rpm?

                                    Keep the guesses coming.

Plastic with metal bits added would certainly be an option and quite easy to do.

I think there are a few others who have used 3D metal prints, I also posted earlier in the year where I used a stainless steel part

They seem to machine OK, much like the solid

Someone did not watch until the end of the video!

I would go for 36 hours. If it was me, probably 4 weeks if not longer
