I'm right at the start of the workshop setup process. Although I mainly have woodworking tools, more and more of my interest seems to be in metalwork, toolmaking and micro-engineering. I've been eyeing up peatol/taig lathes etc and various micro mills, but have yet to purchase anything that takes me firmly into model engineering. I'm just snoofling around and reading/watching many things. Quite a few of my research efforts have ended up on these forums so, although I haven't got much to add or say at the moment, I thought I would sign up and say hello, and thank you for useful info.

Please do not swear on this forum, it is rude. Words like "woodworking" should be refrained from being used.

                Thank you.

                Welcome.

                  Welcome!

LOTS and LOTS of info available on here. As Neil says, do ask, someone will have hit the same problem and found a solution.

For what my advice is worth, before you buy any machines think about what you want to do. Then for the final decision buy a machine a little larger than you think. Your horizons will expand, and although fabulous work has been done on machines that appear to be too small, You can do small work on a big machine, but not the other way round. I am not suggesting that you go looking for a 21 inch Dean Smith and Grace, but try to avoid the frustration of finding that later jobs make your first machine struggle.

                  Good Luck, and Enjoy!

                  Howard
