What a wonderful contrivance, but it’s a bit overkill when you can just use a Pentel and save the trees used in making pencils.

Perhaps we should have a competition for the most complicated pencil sharpener

Hardly “reinventing” the pencil sharpener but if you are taken in by the clickbate. Take another look at the missing videos from the beginning of this thread and the action is similar to the 1907 Angell , infact that looks better as it cuts on opposite sides which should be less likely to snap the lead.

Apologies if this has been posted before,  more ways of sharpening a pencil than are perhaps required

I understand someone has applied for a patent for an item described in the application thus:

“I hereby describe a plate or platter of some suitable material having an outer surface formed as the surface locus of a line moving at constant distance from a geometrical axis parallel to said line, the line being bounded by a pair of radii or modifications thereof at suitable distances apart such that they generate the faces of the said plate or platter whose material and dimensions are chosen to be appropriate for the intended application; and further declare that the plate or platter may be mounted via a central hole or holes of suitable size and shape to allow it to rotate about or be rotated by a concentric, physical axis as needed.”

[Writing that took much of Sibelius’ Pohjola’s Daughter. I should have been a solicitor – they earn by £££-per-word.]

I’d be surprised if it didn’t!:)
