Hi, I have inherited a boiler that needs soldering. I have read about the boiler stays with nuts inside the firebox which this boiler as. However when it comes to how to solder same, it just glosses over how to do that. So my question is. Do you remove the nuts and apply solder to the stay, or do you leave the nuts in place and apply solder. My thinking is that brass nuts inside a firebox is not a good idea, so removing them a few at a time and soldering must be the way. Can anyone recommend the correct method. Thanks.

when you say needs soldering, has any been done? If not take apart and replace the brass nuts with copper /bronze ones. and when all assembled light the torch and do them all at the same time.
