Been to Comet today to see if I could get any bargains related to the workshop.

Bought a chainsaw, got it home, unpacked it but having a few problems with it and wondered if the combined expertise of this forum could shed some light on how this works ?

I would have thought that the manual would have had a few useful 'links' showing how to use it cheeky! You could write to the manufacturer for advice but they are likely to reply by chain mail.

          Hope you sort it out.

          Cheers

ps You have far too much time on your hands wink 2.

            John,

Can spot 3 problems straight away ! One is that the wing nut is at the back rather than the front where it should be , and also, assuming one is right handed, starting will be almost impossible , because the pull cord is on the wrong side of the handle ! And finally, the pitch of the teeth is far too coarse for normal use, which may explain why it was bargain. Assume they had run out of finer pitch versions ?

            Trevor.

              Hi John

I think you were sold a pup there but – fear not – I've managed to fix it for you.

I know it's a bit rough but I hope you don't feel too "sore" about it!

I know you favour the bigger jobs so maybe it will come in useful.

              Cheers

                Hi John,
I think it's a design to meet health and safety standards so you can't cut yourself with it.

                Les.

It will cut perfectly well, just needs the speed increased.

They didn't have any left handed versions left, did they?

You sure its not an electric saw, either the battery is flat, or its a mains one, and they forgot to give you the plug, There's a bloke it Christchurch NZ who has had one for many years, his has a three pin plug (female), on a short flex. Ian S C

I prefer a brass band saw but as the tuba player is at Sandown today I'm using my small bandsaw.

Had thought about buying one of those but it was stretching my budget too far and besides the company couldn't or wouldn't supply the figures for the elastic limit of the blade crook.

                          Cheers

ps Rymans do a good selection of blades at reasonable prices and they are colour coded as well.

I think the ArcEuro part No. is more likely to be *******!!!

No doubt John will enlighten us when he finally gets up!

I think you may have misinterpreted the instructions. The saw will obviously fail to work in its current orientation. Turn it around so that the handle is on the right and all will be well.

You're all missing the point – it's an electric chainsaw, probably three phase, it just needs to be plugged in.

The only chainsore I've got is from this one around my ankle…

Its a most rare model for a prison chain gang.

thanks for the tip Martin, I got the red one mail order – well the postman brought it anyway.

By the way mine is not electric, it is powered by Custard Creames.

Did you remove the chain guard on your chain saw as sawing chains without it you'll have links flying every where, then you spend ages hunting for the missing links. My advice wood be to take it back to the chain store, get your money back head for the pubsmile p

Hi John, was it advertised as an engineers chainsaw? Because I reckon it's a fake if it was. It must be about 99 feet to short, and that might be why it's not working properly.

If it is a surveyors one, then it's still about 65 feet to short.

                                          Regards Nick.
