It looks like Anthony Mount’s Cross or Rectilinear Engine. The build was in Engineering in Miniature Vol 30 issues 9, 10, 11, and 12 March thru June 2009.  Castings available from Polly Engineering I believe. Check their web site under historic stationary engines.

If it’s odd Anthony Mount is always a good place to start. He did do interesting engines.

Although Antony did a Crosss engine that one in the photo looks to be a more basic scratch built version that uses the same motion.

Not if Johannes is from Norway.

I agree with Jason. The cylinder and the columns are much plainer than Anthony’s. His columns were fluted and the cylinder had some reinforcing bands moulded around it.  It might be scratch built based on Anthony’s build series which actually ran from March to October 2009. Johannes I have sent you a PM.

Here’s a picture of Anthony mount’s cross engine for comparison.

Sorry, it is a steam engine. (Dampmaskin in Norwegian).

I actually built the engine many yers ago. Cast the base, table and the cross in aluminium. The cross is strengthening with a steel lining.

It is a friend of of me that want to build the engine and I did not remember were I godt the drawings.

Thanks to you all is OK now. (BTW my friend is 93 years old,— and you learnd some Norwegian).

                          Regards

                          Johannes Line

Is anywhere selling the drawings for this Cross Engine? Or must one track down those issues of Engineering in Miniature above?
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Polly Models lists the casting kit as out of stock and does not list the drawings at all.</p>
And Anthony Mount’s book contains the Rectilinear Engine, which is different and not as visually appealing to me.

If you bother to look at the website and go beyond the first page you will see that the new owners of Polly sell all the sets of drawings individually, as the previous owners did here.

They also keep very little stock now and operate a deposit and cast to order basis so don’t wait about for a kit to come back into stock a sit won’t.

Thanks. I shall bother forthwith.  Couldn’t for the life of me find them yesterday, even using the search function.

Looks like an intriguing project with that wack cross mechanism.
