Milling machine table

I have a very nice small horizontal mill. It is excellent for working on small parts. There are however occasions when i need a longer length to the table. No one sells these apart from one I saw which was aluminium and was for a woodworking router. Has anyone any thoughts on how to extend the table ?

Do you need the travel of a longer table or to mount the job ? If only to mount the job, you can bolt a long plate on top of the table to hold it.

If it is a table with longer travel it would be specific for your mill. I have a Sieg milling machine and I know that there is a longer table available for it. If not available you would have to manufacture a special table.

Hi there Depends what you want to do. I used to machine aluminium about 4 feet X 2 feet on a standard Bridgeport mill. Ideally you need to drill and ream or bore a hole to clock the location when you move the plate. I used to keep the plate parallel by pushing it against the main dovetail.
