A friend bought a Drummod M type yesterday, and would like to know what type of grease or oil should be used in the headstock. Also some of the gears are missing, particularly on the tumble reverse, are the gears the same as on Myford lathes 20DP ?

          tell your friend:

          Oil not grease.
          14dP 14.5 pressure angle not 20 / 20, pin drive not keyway.

            +1 for Bazyle's advice

Several Drummond users on here, and literally turning out good work.

Talk to them, and heed their advice. They, along with the Drummond forums may well help to source parts, as well as advice.

Hi John I have sent you a message (you should see an envalope in box  at the top of page in green band when logged on) about info that I have including a small handbook. Also I have an M Type lathe myself.

This is my tumbler reverse. You will struggle to get the small gears for it but there are a few members on the Drummond groups .io web site who occasionally make them. https://groups.io/g/drummondlathe have a look on there in the files section there is a drawing of all the parts of a tumbler reverse and other parts in the files section.
