An update on the immediate steps being taken at Walker Midgley to control the impact of COVID-19 Coronavirus, safeguarding both the health of our employees and our ability to look after you, our valued clients.

Our office in Sheffield has been closed due to Government mandate and our duty of care to our employees.

All staff are now working from home and, following investment in our IT in recent years, they can access client records and important information remotely and securely. Our connectivity with many of the key insurers means that the communication links are unbroken at this time.

Please continue to use your usual contacts within the business or, if you do need our general telephone number and email these are: –

      Telephone: 0114 250 2770

      email: [email protected]

I want to reinforce that we are still able to support our clients on all immediate and urgent insurance needs such as renewal, mid-term adjustments, new cover requirements, claims guidance and support. We are still here for you. Where ever possible we will be communicating by email, sending policies, renewal papers etc.

While we are committed to offering the same level of service we are known for, during this time there may be instances where we are not able to run at 100% capacity, or in quite the same way we would if all of our people are at their usual place of work.

At this time, we ask for your support and patience and in return, we commit to doing everything we can to ensure we can look after your immediate insurance needs and be there for you when you need us the most. Please continue to get in touch with your usual Walker Midgley contacts.

During this time, we ask you to please consider following the below guidance in respect of contacting us and working with us for your insurance requirements and cover – this will help us continue to service you in the usual ways we would regardless of geographical location or working environment.

We ask that you do not pay by cheque as our ability to handle these whilst the office is closed will be limited. If you need to discuss this, please speak to your usual contact. The preferred method of premium payment is by BACS bank transfer. While we are remotely working, some of our employees may not be able to take credit/debit payments over the phone, which means that you may be transferred to other colleagues to ensure we keep your sensitive information secure and comply with payment collection regulations. We are unable to accept cash payments in any circumstances.

To ensure a speedy response please call or email your usual contact rather than send documents through the post. Please provide your up-to-date email address and telephone numbers to help us deal with your enquiry as efficiently as possible.

These are unprecedented times for the UK, and for the rest of the world. I thank you for your loyalty and understanding as we do everything we can, to ensure that we can continue to offer you the right support and guidance.

Regards to everyone and stay safe

          Tony Wood
