Warco VMC start capacitor

After a week or so of temperamental starting and a few simple tests I found out that my Warco VMC motor start capacitor had failed. No worries 5 mins online found a replacement at under £10 and it duly arrived the next day. This has absolutely solved the starting problem but ignorant me didn’t realise it would be physically bigger than the one taken out and won’t fit in the control box. I can get a capacitor the same outer dimensions rated at 265v 150uF rather than the original 250v 150uF. I’m hoping nthe slight increase in max working voltage won’t make any difference, is that an ok assumption? Thanks.

The higher voltage will cause no harm and the tolerances are often 10% so not too critical.  Good luck.  Noel.

Higher voltage is better. Although typically a higher voltage rated capacitor will be larger all else being equal.

Can you provide a link to the capacitor you’ve bought please. It may be handy as a reference in case it goes on my VMC. Thanks.

Strap your large capacitor to the outside of the box.

BE VERY CAREFUL ! The picture shows what you want but the description indicates a 400uf at 125v NOT what you want !  Check before ordering.  Noel

Yes I did notice that hence my comment when posting the link, all very odd but the linked page and my order confirmation do expressly state the 265v 150uF version.
