Stuart Major

Looking at various photographs of the Stuart Major such as the cover photo of ME 4501 the parallel linkage is fastened to a "U" shaped casting but other photos on t'internet show the linkage secured by under slung plummer blocks on two strips of metal.. Which is standard ie supplied by Stuart. If it's the metal strip option where are the "U" shaped casting obtained from.

I have always gone by the "Major beam" having the U shaped casting and the smaller "beam" having the two straight strips of metal. Problem with google images is it will show pictures that contain some of the words and miss out the "major"

Easy way to check if it is a Major is by the valve chest facing the column, + section conrod and ringgear next to the flywheel as I have seen the basic beam with a U shaped bracket machined from solid on more than one occasion

In the early days of google, I'm sure it was possible to "enforce" a search-term by prefixing it with +

… but that doesn't seem to have worked for some considerable time.

What does seem to help is to enclose a required phrase within quotes

i.e. "Stuart Major" should give better results than Stuart Major
