How to talk to an AI

Apparently the way you ask an AI a question influences the sort of answer you get. I didn’t know this and found it quite interesting.

That’s quite an interesting video Alan, but to some extent isn’t AI doing what human interaction does, where if you ask a question in the wrong way you won’t get the answer you necessarily want and we have to learn how to phrase our questions to get the information we are really seeking. It’s just that AI does it all at lightning speed. 😂

I find that AI doesen’t understand a Lancashire accent. I spent some time recently agreeing to something with the word Yes which I pronounced as yis.

I found it quite funny

I haven’t checked recently, but a while agp ChatGPT was presenting two alternative responses, and asking the user to state a preference.

I think that your observation echoes what we often see on this forum.  I don’t think anybody is suggesting that the respondents on here are in any way artificially generated! How many times has a plea for assistance been replied to with a request for more details, in an effort to narrow down the question and provide an appropriate answer?

I’ve had multiple exchanges with Google AI over the last couple of days regarding my mill and on numerous occasions, I’ve had to pull it up on facilities that aren’t available on my machine but that are on it’s larger (and more expensive) brother, despite specifically mentioning in the original question the exact mill about which I was posing the query. To “its” credit, it did acknowledge its error and went on to give the required result, eventually

John, I wasn’t being critical of anyone who asks questions on this or any other site, more an observation of life in general.

This is how most of us develop as adult humans, we learn by our mistakes we develop interaction skills between each other and constantly improve our knowledge, hopefully.

Therefore those very clever people who develop AI would naturally build this type of procedure into the programmes that run it.
