      PTFEs main claim to fame is its ability is its high temperature working. As the smoke point of olive oil is about 200 degs C ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olive_oil ), heat a egg cupful of olive oil in the work shop until it starts to smoke, and see if your "PTFE" melts of softens .

      FWIW Nylon absorbs oil and expands, leave a bit of "plastic" in oil and see if it gets bigger?

              Can't find the TV program that mentioned the discontinuance of PTFE cook ware, it may have been a recomendation. A number of google sites suggest that your pet bird might get done in by the fumes. Ian S C
