Went into a Wilko shop today and found they have a 'pick and mix' section for fixings. Stocked up on 6 & 8mm wing nuts, 5, 6 & 8mm penny washers and some 6mm nuts and washers to fill the bag. The amount of wing nuts and washers I got into a £1.99 bag will keep me going for some time.

Unfortunately the screws they have are 'roofing bolts' so not not so useful to me.

They do wood screws as well, just like the old hardware shop where you could get loose screws etc.

      Regards

      John

Well done for the "heads up" on that John, we all like bargains, we were at a local autojumble a couple of yrs ago & a stallholder was selling washers a £1 per"handfull", well my brother who's a bigger bloke than me got his handfull, then me a handfull, then another bloke near us asked him to grab him a handfull too, the stallholder wasn't too amused!! he he.

Wilkos are great for stuff like that- I bought a 500ml tin of red oxide primer last week, it's meant as a metal primer but I've also used it for painting the wooden body of a scratch-built 16 mm scale railway wagon that I've just made.

it's really nice paint, goes on smoothly and has a nice satin-y finish. And…only £4.50!

              Regards,

              John.
