Outlet pipe for hot tub snapped when moving hot tub, I've tested with Acetone but no joy, plastic is hard white with almost ceramic like texture and brittleness

Replacing the pipe isn't an option unless I absolutely have no choice so I'm looking for a glue recommendation please

I think the specification 'plastic but not ABS' is too vague – sorry. And whatever you use has got to be heat resistant, too….

Is it uPVC pressure pipe? if so use a solvent weld adhesive for that. The fittings usually have the type of plastic on them.

Could be CPVC, good for 90 C. See here **LINK**

Just don't use a conventional silicone based sealant. I made that mistake

A picture might be helpful. I´m not sure what you mean by a "hot tub". I know certain large bits of plastic sanitary ware used to be made of highly filled thermosetting polyurethane moulding compositions.

It may even require a welded connection/repair. General solvent glues may not be appropriate in all situations.

You want something like Devcon Plastic Welder, this is a 2 part acrylic adhesive . It mixes like 2 part epoxies but is made specifically to bond most plastics including PVC/ABS. I have used it for years on Plastic to plastics also plastic bonded to glass fibre/metal/wood. Its available from model shops or Ebay etc.

I don't recommend playing "guess the polymer" when doing glued repairs on plastics. I'd recommend a call to the manufacturer or the dealer and ask them what glue to use. (or what type was spec'd originally)

Thanks for all the advice – Martin's suggestion of Devcon did the trick, I stumbled across a tube at a car boot this weekend, wouldn't have known what I was looking at without this top tip

Hot tub holds 4 people therefore lots of water pressure, so far the repair has held up

Glad the Plastic Welder worked ok & it holds up, it actually melts into the surface of the plastic giving a strong bond. The good news with Plastic Welder is you can use it also on thin plastic where it only melts or etches into the surface of the plastic so dose not affect or distort the other side of the plastic which a lot of the time is the outer surface that can be seen depending on what you are bonding.
