Lathe tooling identification – help please

A friend of mine is sorting out the estate of a friend of his who has a very nice Myford Super 7 Lathe and a workshop full of various tools and tooling.

Since I have a small lathe and an engineering background I have been tasked with sorting out and selling off some of this gear.

I have put the lathe, together with the normal tooling that obviously (to me) go's with it, on e-bay. There are several boxes of other bits that I am not sure about and would appreciate your advice. Should it go with the lathe? what should go with what? etc etc. Just so I know how to list it properly.

Any advice much appreciated and if there is anything you might want, it all has to go! I hope I am not breaking any forum rules asking this, just trying to help a mate

First up, these two items were wrapped in oil paper and bubble-wrap

Next is an angle plate. Is it for anything specific? Also a Hemmingway Saddle Wheel Dial?

Next Tap Holder, 2mt boring head, 2mt stub arbour, fly cutter.

And last 2 sizes of between ctr boring bars, 2mt long milling arbour, and a long bar threaded on the end with 2 nuts and a round collar Labelled 'special draw bar' ?

In the first pic you have a lever operated tailstock mechanism above and a rack and pinion operated tailstock mechanism. Both are quite desirable add-ons and could be sold separately for a good price.

Ditto the geared carriage handwheel dial if it is completed and working.

Neither would be considered part of the basic lathe.

The angle plate goes on the faceplate to hold work.

The other bits and bobs are all "extras" that could be sold separate for not a huge amount or could be thrown in with the lathe to sweeten the deal. Depends on how much ebaying you want to do.

Your 3rd and 4th picures show mostly what appear to be "Arrand" brand acccessories, which are very good quality and are (I think) no longer available. If advertised as Arrand they may attract considerable interest.

Just happened to notice a couple of those lever action tailstock sets on eBay for 270 quid each so definitely worth selling on their own. I imagine the rack and pinion version would be worth at least the same if not more than the lever type. No wonder they were a popular DIY project.

Michael,

You have some very nice and valuable accessories there. As others have said, they should be sold separately. The saddle wheel dial in your second photo is a “Graham Meek” design, not Hemingway. Steve Tracey Tooling sells these for around £150.

The capstan tailstock unit looks very similar (but not identical) to the one I have on my Super 7

It fits an ML7 tailstock and was made by Cowells.
