help needed – wooden beam engine

Hello all.

has anyone built the wooden beam engine,i downloaded a pdf from another site but on the drawing for the crank i cant makeout the length or the mesurement for the centres for the main crank pin and the main pin i hope there is someone that can help me i picked this engine for my first build mainly because i have a good supply of wood offcuts from a freind i have started to build up my metal stock but as of yet its mainly stainless and brass and differant sorts of nylon .

Assuming its Elmers No 1 I would say its 5/8"

i have put a photo in my album dont know if it will help,the plan is of elmers wood beam engine if that helps

The beam is centred on its pivot with 3" either side to centre line of crank and centre line of cylinder. This means that twice the throw of the crank will equal the stroke of the piston. The cylinder is 1.3/4" long and the piston is 3/8" thick. Subtract the 3/8" from 1.3/4" and you get 1.3/8" left for piston stroke. If the crank has a throw of 5/8" then the stroke of the piston will be 1.1/4" with 1/16" either side for clearance. This means that 5/8" is the correct crank throw, no assumptions necessary.
