Has anyone managed to remove an unbroken glass panel on these?

      If so how?

I want to swap a new one over to my broken one, the broken one was easy to remove, The new one not so!!

It might help if you could tell us what type of gauge. Never mind the fact that a digital vernier is a contradiction*, is it a depth gauge, a caliper, an indicator, or what?

          * a vernier has two scales sliding against each other, and relies on the user identifying where the scales match. Digital, in this context, means an instrument giving a reading directly in figures, usually relying on an electonic counter and a finely divided internal scale.

          Cheers, Tim

Tim is right, had to bite my tongue.

If it was a vernier it could not have a "glass" so must be digital.

Most likely, the "glass" is fixed in place with an adhesive, so careful prising MAY allow damage free removal.

If the worst comes to the worst,Mmachine DRO were able, until recently to supply at a reasonable price, new read heads for the generic digital callipers and linear scales..

Skipping over the err…. language..perfectly correct but at moment in helpful.

Glass panel…do you mean the glasing of the case or the LCD itself.

If ,the window in the external case , then at first go try softening the glue with IPA.. or meths .

              Hot air might work too.

                IPA?

AS Colonel Chinstrap used to say, "I don't mind if I do"

never though of suggesting Ethyl Alcohol.

                  Hello again Howard.

Just to be pedantic, I have a Mitutoyo vernier caliper with a "glass", It houses a dial for the least significant number!

                  Best Regards,

                  Andrew,

P.S. the Gunson twin carb balancer has been used this week. I shall have the MGB on the road after the lockdown. Thanks again.

                    Hello Andrew

Glad that something has been of use! I have always been a firm believer in using a vacuum gauge,, or the balancer in preference to SU's piece of rubber tube and ea'role.

If we weren't all pedantic from time time, nothing would ever be done properly!

                      IPA..iso propol alcohol..propan 1.1 ol'.

I prefer this to meths.. 90+ percent as supplied versu 60 percent ethanol in meths…meths barely burns theses days . Barely (and possibly not even) strong enough as hand sanitizer….in any case IPA will even release hot glue….
